about the venue

Nestled on a hill at the top of the Garw Valley, Blaengarw Workmen's Hall is a Victorian building that offers ground floor access to the theatre and toilet facilities and a ramp to the bar. We have designated wheelchair spaces in the Hall, which can be viewed and booked online, or over the phone. It's important that you feel your visit is relaxed and welcomed, and we appreciate all suggested improvements to accessibility. 

event spaces 

Access to the Theatre is via the front entrance which is at ground level. A short corridor leads to the main performing space and the disabled toilet is directly off to the righ of the auditorium. 

emergency evacuation information 

Evacuation from the Main Hall is via the left and right fire exits, both of which evacuate onto Blaengarw Road and the assembly point. From the balcony evacuation us down the stairs and out via the same exits as the Main Hall stalls. From downstairs dressing rooms, dance studio, exit is to the left or right with the fire exit leading out the back of the building onto Cross Street. In all instances but the balcony the fire exits are accessible to wheelchair users. 

venue facilities 

Blaengarw Workmen's Hall accommodation is as follows: 

Craft Room (Capacity 15) - NB: Craft and Conference Rooms have stairs/lift access, but emergency evacuation is limited to stairs only. 

Auditorium (Capacity 220) - 

Dance (Capacity 15) - NB: Mens, Ladies and disabled toilets are also located opposite the dance studio in the basement. 

Conference (Capacity 15) - NB: Access toilet is located on the ground floor, men's and ladies' toilets are respectively on 1st and 3rd floors but have lift access. 

There is a small food and beverage offering available at a kiosk within the Main Hall. There are ramps either side of the auditorium.

One public lift which gives access to all floors, except for the balcony. Wheelchair spaces are flexible and available on the ground floor.

Guide dogs are welcomed into the auditorium. There is no wheelchair or hearing loop on site currently. 

services 

Additional support can be arranged before and during events. 

If you have a guide dog, we would encourage the guide dog to stay with the individual. 

Paper brochures aren't currently in circulation. We do offer an access widget on the website. 

getting here: transport / parking 

Blaengarw Hall is at the top of the A4064, street parking is available nearby and a regular 72 bus runs up and down the valley. Worth noting there is a steep incline and decline around the building. There is a drop curb further up Blaengarw Road just passed the hall.
